WTF Allergies
Privacy Policy
Effective August 29, 2026
The short version. WTF Allergies has no user accounts. What you log—how you feel, symptoms, medications, foods, remedies, and notes—stays on your device. Our pollen relay retains only coarse-cell outdoor pollen categories for model evaluation, never a health log, device ID, account, precise address, or precise location. We do not run ads or behavioral tracking, and we never sell your data.
Information the app uses
Your location
With permission, WTF Allergies uses device location to fetch pollen, air quality, weather, alerts, smoke, fire, and related environmental information for where you are. Coordinates—or a ZIP code derived on device for UV—are sent to the data providers below so they can return local conditions. Location also labels on-device check-ins and saved places.
Before contacting the pollen relay, the app rounds the coordinate to roughly 1 km. The relay immediately snaps it to an approximately 11 km cache cell and retains only that cell. It does not receive an account, device ID, health journal, precise address, or the phone's exact GPS coordinate. Other provider calls use the precision necessary for their function; point alerts and nearest-monitor lookups may receive a more precise coordinate. You can disable Location in iOS Settings.
Health and wellness information you enter
Check-ins, symptoms, illness status, foods, medications, remedies, exposures, sleep context, neighborhood entries, and notes are stored only in the app's local Apple storage. We do not transmit them to our servers or third parties. A private device or iCloud backup may contain this data under Apple's controls.
Apple Watch
A Watch check-in is sent to the paired iPhone through Apple's device-to-device connection. It is not routed through our server.
Apple Health
Apple Health is optional. With explicit permission, WTF Allergies can read sleep duration for on-device check-in context and write supported symptom records so the user's allergy history can live beside other Health records. Health information is used on device and is not sent to us or third parties. Permissions can be reviewed or revoked in Apple Health.
Purchases
Apple processes subscriptions. The app receives entitlement status, not card or Apple Account details.
Diagnostics
WTF Allergies includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDK. If a user has chosen to share diagnostics with developers in iOS, Apple may provide aggregate or non-identifying diagnostics through App Store Connect.
Environmental data providers
Depending on feature availability, location or derived ZIP data may be sent to Apple geocoding, the U.S. National Weather Service, AirNow/U.S. EPA, EPA Envirofacts, OpenAQ, OpenWeather, NOAA/Esri smoke services, NASA FIRMS, Open-Meteo, and Google Pollen through a Cloudflare-hosted relay. Each provider applies its own policy:
- Apple privacy

- AirNow privacy and EPA privacy
- OpenAQ privacy
- OpenWeather privacy
- NOAA privacy and Esri privacy
- NASA privacy
- Open-Meteo terms
- Google privacy and Cloudflare privacy
The pollen relay caches forecasts by coarse grid cell for up to 24 hours and may retain compact coarse-cell pollen-category records for up to 365 days to evaluate and improve the environmental model. Those records describe public outdoor conditions for a grid cell—not a person, trip, check-in, or precise address.
Exporting and deleting
- Export: Settings can export the user's journal and a summary report.
- Restart setup: Re-runs onboarding while keeping logs, saved places, and the neighborhood map.
- Erase all local data: Removes local check-ins, meals, remedies, places, neighborhood entries, custom symptoms, illness corrections, shared widget/location snapshots, and preferences. Apple Health records and existing backups remain controlled through Apple interfaces. Deleting the app does not cancel an App Store subscription.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
We do not store health logs, an account, device identifier, precise address, or precise location on our servers. Questions about privacy rights, including CCPA or GDPR requests, can be sent to apps@hiatusstudios.com.
Not medical advice
WTF Allergies is an informational and educational tool, not a medical device. It does not provide medical advice or diagnosis. Any pattern it surfaces is an association worth watching, not a clinical finding.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date will change and significant updates will be noted in the app where appropriate.
